http://news.yahoo.com/fact-check-obamas-claims-illegal-immigration-081111776.html So the actual story is, YES, other Presidents have used Executive Order to CHANGE immigration laws that had recently passed Congress because they felt that they need additional language or modification. In this case it was absolutely the messenger and not the message. I have never heard that Republicans didn't agree in principle of granting permanent citizenship to the people here who have family here, only on the criteria of citizenship being granted and future enforcement. Keep in mind, the states that carry the cross in this are the border states, Texas and California in particular, so Perry might be an ass but the Lone Star state has been the muy rico Tio Pepe to illegals for 50+ years.

Moderate R's want enforcement first BEFORE amnesty. Otherwise you get a flood of illegal immigrants, as has happened in the past.

Why open the floodgates if you are unsure if you can close them? You can offer amnesty to get people out in the open (they are here anyway, might as well make them pay taxes) but you cannot accept the fact that they cannot protect the borders first. That is simply unacceptable and they know it.

Nit pick..nit pick..nit pick. We shouldnt be able to debate a setting President for at least five years from the time he leaves office. Thats when you see the legacy that they have left. Clinton as an example left office under less than desirable conditions but 5 to 10 years later the guy is a Top 5!

No president is entirely responsible for economic problems and recovery as well as a lot of other issues but all presidents get blamed for failures and praise for successes. Clinton was a good president. His failures involved his zipper but obviously Hillary was OK with having an open marriage and that was a personal problem. It had nothing to do with policy. Presidential powers are limited (or at least they should be).

some things never change, Good for him

Key words "passed Congress". Obama is the first president who considers himself emperor, and at the rate he is going, he is the emperor. Great editorial about Obama in WSJ, Horrible Bosses 3, describes the scapegoating in this administration that cannot keep competent help, because of the micro-management from the top. Obama is easily the worst president ever. Jimmy Carter will be buried with a big grin on his face. It escapes me how anyone can continue to defend this national (and international) embarrassment.

Have you ever heard of G.W. Bush or Richard Nixon?

Carter and Clinton are true statesmen. They continue to do great things. Being President was just part of who they are. I bet Obama follows suit. What is it about dems that allows them to believe in people and want to help them? Have any reps done anything after office?

I'd comment but the statement is too ludicrous to even bother. GW and Clinton come to mind in their joint aid to Haiti.
