Beach Comber
Thought I'd give yall a mid trip fishing update. We have caught numerous ladyfish from the beach and in kayaks using yozuris, spoons, and finger mullet. A few mangrove snapper from the lakes have made for some good eating. However, the highlight so far has been a 20# king mackerel my little brother caught this morning while drifting a cigar minnow. THe giant fish almost towed him out to sea (any mackerel recipes anybody?). Aight, Im heading back out after the rain quits. I'll keep yall posted....THis is awesome

THanks for all the tips i recieved on here earlier. They are coming in handy!

I cooked Mackerel for lunch today. Yummy.

I add an egg, a little oil, 1.5 cups of flour, 1.5 teaspoons baking powder, some finely chopped onions and or peppers, a touch of lemon juice, to finely chopped pieces of Mackerel (about 3/4 to 1 pound). Mix it all together and shape into 4-5 oz patties, then fry in a skillet with a little bit of vegetable oil. Make sure the oil is hot before placing fish in pan. Cook on each side until golden brown. Serve on a bun with some remoulade or sauce of your choice. Also holds up nicely to BBQ sauce. Yummy!

thanks for the tips. 20# king mackerel.

Add a few cracker crumbs to this and you've got Mom's salmon (Mackeral, whatever) patties.

MMMMMMMMMM, Good eatin'!!!:D :D :D

:floor: ...Mackerel's runnin'!!!!

So, SJ, when I am in sowal this fall, here's an idea. You cook!
I love to cook. Let's do it, but keep the guest list manageable because I'm no professional chef. I'm thinking like eight people as a max.

As for that recipe above, seaside, try using some Corn Flakes rather than crackers. ;-)

HHHHMMMM Bring me some Mack to Memphis and we're on!!!
