Sowal social media is meant to be lighthearted postings of photos and business news, people and places, events and restaurants and news from South Walton Florida. For example on Facebook, our SoWal page is a kind of window into the online community minus any heavy issues as business pages are not conducive to educational debate like an online forum or group.
More random responses every day posted about our beaches and not in a good way. Complaints and questions about private beaches, beach access and vendor takeovers.
Today in response to a beach photo:
Used to visit, used to live in the county, but we won't return to the beach there until it has been returned to its rightful, owners, THE PUBLIC! Here's to hoping for good news for next summer! We refuse to look at private property signs and be limited to VERY small pieces of 'public' beach.
Todd from Georgia
Many more I'm seeing as time goes by. Most are well meaning posts. Some are angry. Others wanting to know how they can help. Some local people posting their opinions. But mostly frequent visitors from the Southeast. They are speaking from personal experience. Almost all in support of Customary Use.
And if we post a photo of a beach with a line of umbrellas... Well there are always at least a few snarky comments. It's just a pretty photo y'all!
We'll get thorough it. Growing pains in South Walton.
