Just read that the Florida House Republicans will be visting our area for a meeting. It was stated that no tax dollars were used for this meeting, but it appears that donors to the Republican Party are footing the bill. Thanks for coming to our area and spending your donors money. The Democrats are meeting in Tallahassee.

Hopefully Gov. Crist won't fly in to Destin or PC on the State plane. We have people that are losing some in home care because of Budget Cuts. I wonder how much that plane cost to operate?

How should he get around, horse and buggy?

...:idontno: From Tally?...How about automobile? Maybe it will give him an idea of what his state roads and real estate looks like at ground level.

.

Highway 20 is a good road with lots of nature, if he gets on it he will think all is well. We can't have that, better he get caught in traffic on 98 from Destin to Watercolor, we might get some help then.

I would suggest commercial flights, you might be suprised how he could fly to a region and drive from there. Then maybe flying somewhere else. Surely it would be cheaper than using the State plane. I believe Gov. Palin sold an Alaskan State Plane because of cost. Idle aren't you concerned about the efficient use of TAX Dollars?

Touche' :idontno: Seriously, I agree that he could drive. It would be much more economical. Ours is not the only governor that flys around. I was at an event recently and watched the state's Governor helicopter in for a 5 minute ceremony. He then flew away; I assume back to the capital, about 30 miles away. Pretty wasteful I think.

I just feel when we cut services to those in need but we continue to fly a jet around the State then he hasn't cut the frivilous stuff. I just saw and article and did not read it all, but new school board members learning how to do their jobs and finding out less money is going to be forthcoming from the State. We have CFO Sink who is advising that a special session is needed to address the deficit, Representative Sansom thinks it might be unnesscary. Where has he been? Gov Crist is kind of sitting on the fence reference the issue and more than likely will be dipping into the SURPLUS to offset the SHORTFALL for the State. The shortfall for local governments fall directly on our shoulders. Sounds as though Nero is playing the fiddle while Rome is burning.

Things have sort of hit the perfect storm for local governments. The Tallahassee and Amendment 1 mandated tax cuts arrived at almost the precise time that the economy tanked; and sales tax revenue as well as increases from new construction took a nosedive. Things are probably going lower still before they begin to rise again.:idontno:

Took a look at my tax bills, only saved $100 my home over all, and thats with the added exemption, reduced assessment and lower tax. As I have said before, and I'm sure there will be disagreement, $8 a month is not that much of a deal for me, I wonder what someone with a hire priced home saved. After hometead and lower assessment, mine $127k. I just wonder if this is what we needed with the current state of affairs?
