flying restrictions

i think they go by contents

get the little printed bottles with labels, not the clear little empties and fill them yourselves, or label them with a marker, or the man shall hassle you for what's in the little bottles - and put them in a freaking quart-sized ziplock bag so's you can un-zip the top of the bag as you are supposed to do when you put it, by itself, into the lovely gray tray as ordered - all that and then they apparently only x-ray'd it, not checked it for whatever serological hoo-haa i might have been carrying - i thought that's what they were preventing but who knows what's going on inside that box

american lost our luggage on the way out (as usual) and delivered it 2 days later at the curb not the door, so carry at least one change of clothes in your carry-on bag

why not just pack everything in your checked luggage (very carefully) and then just carry on your reading material. very simple. its kind of nice not lugging all that stuff with you on and off the plane.

I agree with you Tootsie. We have been traveling to Europe and within the US within the past six weeks and if you just plan ahead (I do travel with samples ~ I can certainly get by for a week or two without my favorite creams) and carefully pack everything in your checked luggage it is not such a big deal. I must confess that I did miss not being allowed to carry a lipstick and gloss to Europe since it is such a long flight (I hate having dry lips) but I was able to puchase makeup (duty free) on board. Now those restricions have now been lifted ~ so problem solved. :clap_1:

Good trip. I packed my liquids in a clear quart bag and got checked for a flat, lip stick container.....not an 1/4 inch thick. Security was very nice.....no over zealous workers. Overall a good trip. They look at the weight on the item...not size. Checking is the best, but was taking some items I could not risk losing...a bride's maid dress.

:clap_1: Glad you had a good trip. In New York at the major airports, going through security is long winded and I have even been checked by female security agents under my clothes:eek: (they sometimes check underwire bras and I think the agent enjoyed it too much:razz: ) but I rather see high security than them miss something.

Hubby had a bit of trouble finding 3-ounce travel sizes at CVS. He said that they had tons of shampoo and conditioner, but only one choice of deodorant. He packed his quart baggie this AM and couldn't fit everything in -- had to leave the mouthwash behind.

No way I could fit all of my toiletries into a quart baggie. You know, they're only slightly bigger than a sandwich bag. Guess I'll have to check my baggage next time I fly.
