And I mentioned property only in relation to destruction which is the point mputnal was making in his initial post when mistakenly claiming there was unequal justice applied.
With the exception of property damage bothsiderism does not and should not apply to the events of Jan 6.
Do you believe that our political division affects equal justice? I am trying to make the point of human perspective and how it is affected by sharp political division. We can't even convince people to get the vaccine for the greater good so how are we to convince them that ALL destructive behavior is bad for society? I hear the "lock and load" sentiment way to frequently. People are willing to die for a cause so I say lets give them a reason to live for a better cause. If we lose our sense of respect for each other our democracy is over. I know it seems impossible but it's not...

If you're hearing "lock and load" that much, you might want to find another "tribe".

In this case let’s say “neithersideism” . Unrealistic I know. I’m hoping our AI overlords are benevolent or at least indifferent when they arrive. I don’t believe in the present and crumbling structure but what choice is there. I wish I could.

There is something wrong if you can't see a clear difference between what the Democrats and Republicans in power have to offer, and you should be able to choose a side given that at the moment, there is no other option.

I can see the difference. However I know that choosing sides is not going to end well for us. We will lose our democracy if we do not learn how to connect in an apolitical manner.

Absolutely one hundred percent g** damn right!
As Elie Wiesel famously said,
We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented.

And when all parties are perceived as, and in fact are, ”Oppressors”? The far left is as odious to me as Trump ever was. And appears to have similar influence over the more moderate.

It's often result of an immature pseudo-sophisticated way of thinking.

Serious question: How is the far left "oppressors"? I don't see how being proponents for universal health care, child care, education, increased infrastructure spending, equitable tax reform, climate change mitigation are oppressive? Being against fair and balanced elections and being in favor of open racism is oppressive.
