Frog Strangler in WA State

Hello, SoWallers...Here we sit, watching the rain come down. It is the greatest rainfall for this time of year in over 50 years in WA State...and that is saying a mouthful. The locals don't let it slow them down, however. They go about their business in serviceable rain gear with hoods and one seldom spots an umbrella. Not too many artful coiffs, it goes without saying. But it is beautiful, green and lush with an ever changing tableau on the waterfront that is in front of us. We watch Canadian geese migrating, ducks swimming and diving, ferries coming and going to Seattle, kayakers and rowboaters cutting through the sound every day (rain or shine), and watch the constantly changing skies. No traffic, no stressed out motorists, no hatchet faces, etc. and one feels simple-minded for being so astonished that people act civilized. Hummmm.

My ornament is ready for that exchange. Will go back to CA for a spate of holiday parties and hearings (now there's an unlikely combo), then off to the snow white sands and emerald water of Grayton. Hummm, again...life is good. Looking forward to seeing many of you.

Donna, we've been watching the old movie Cool Hand Luke tonight, and when I saw your title I thought of that scene on the chain gang with the big old turtle that boss killed with the rifle. And then I started thinking if it would be quicker to shoot a frog or strangle it.

And then I remembered about your Northwest weather. Duh!

:lolabove: Shoot a frog or strangle it. :floor:
I love going out after a rain storm and watching the frogs jump across the road while I am driving. Sometimes there are so many, I have run them over by accident, and they make a crunch sound.

Donna, Have a wonderful Thanksgiving in your new home.

One of the greatest luxuries in life is when folks treat each other with courtesy without expecting anything in return. Got a taste of that in Maine this spring.....very rare occurrence in my backyard.

Bob, I'm convinced that people are nicer when they simply slow down. Life goes at a slower pace here, on "island time." People smile and chat as they're checking people out at the grocery market. At four-way stops, they all try to let the other person go first, which results in a little confusion and yet everyone is smiling and laughing at it and no accidents. The local roundabout goes at something less that centrifugal force speed. The lady who sold me a vacuum at the local Ace Hardware offered to come home and show me how it works. And after Butter left a tootsie roll on the floor of the ferry building (which I missed), a Seattle ferry employee walked over with a box of Kleenex and a smile, told me I obviously didn't realize Butter's mistake and told me where the closest trash receptacle was located. Back in San Francisco, someone would have called the security force and I would have been issued a citation. So I am glad to hear that it isn't just CA where this madness exists. And happier yet to know that there are multiple places where one still finds the milk of human kindness.

Here's hoping that you and your family enjoy a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday, wherever you are, SoWallers. For my part, no matter where in the world my human structure is, I will still be making that good old Southern cornbread dressing. Nothing like it anywhere in this world! :clap_1:
