Geez, another idiot 30a driver!

I was traveling west on 30A yesterday, just before 1PM. It was E of, the old Wheel House Restaurant. There were numerous people wanting to cross the street, AT THE CROSSWALK! An idiot woman was on the phone, oblivious to them and wouldn't stop!:angry: I sat on my horn, while waving arm out the window, to get her to stop! Local, tourist, or whatever, YOU'RE SUPPOSE TO STOP, FOR THE CROSSWALKS! She stopped, but, stayed on the the phone! Needless to say, I told her to GET OFF, THE **** PHONE! This is a big reason that we're having so many accidents, in the area! Whew, I feel better!

Crazy!! Walk and talk or bike and text!! Insane! Too bad you had to go through that. Hopefully she got the point but I doubt it.

Kinda off topic here but I've noticed that when I am driving down say 83 or 393 and I am driving the posted speed limit someone always tailgates me and is sooooo hungry to pass. Most have FL plates and SoWal stickers. So if anyone is behind me - sorry but I am going to follow the limits. Funny thing is, this woman passed the other day on 83 and big deal - she got to the stop light at 98 one car before me!!Was it worth it?

So my point is everyone needs to follow rules in cars, bikes, walking, jogging, etc... and lay off the texting and phones!!

I agree Gidget! Actually I usually drive about 5 miles over the speed limit unless its busy and I continuously have cars catch up to me like I am not even moving. In those situations were they are particularly aggressive, I usually slow down to the speed limit and take my jolly time. If someone is really tailgating me, I keep applying the brakes until they get the idea to back off.

What is it about tail-gating in this area? I travel all over and this place is near the top for inconsiderate drivers. Everyone is speeding, on their cell phone, flicking their cigarette butts out the window, and giving the stink-eye or finger to anyone in their way. Out-of-towners, locals, wanna-be hotshots, kids who really shouldn't be driving, and the "buzz" crowd make it a crazy, dangerous place to drive. I don't necessarily want everyone pulled over who may exceed the speed limit a little or get caught by these mistimed lights around here, but the situation is ridiculous and only getting worse. People need to come down off their clouds and join the mere mortals who just want to get from A to B safely. You are not your car, your music, or your cool racing moves, and your indifference is dangerous to others.

Tailgaters get behind me and get to go slower, the closer to my bumper you get the slower I'm going so when I do stop it won't cause as much damage.

I watch people passing others on 30-A with a double solid yellow line. They come here to relax and then get all wound up trying to do it. Go figure. Where's a cop when you need one.
