Hasn't changed one dam bit! :funn: Pigeon Forge sure has grown though  . Nothing but go cart tracks, pancake houses, gift shops, and mini golf. I swear with as much money as we spent in 2 days one night, we could have gone to Disney :idontno: . Oh yeah... The Pedler..... $112 + tip  and NO it was not 30A quality ;-)

sorry to hear the peddler wasn't up to par - we always found that to be the best dining in gatleesburg, so if that's gone down hill, that place is hurtin'. we haven't gone in probably 5 years. i couldn't take all the people, traffic, and junk shops.

It was good and probably still is the best dinning in Gburg. Just not $130 good IMHO ;-)

I have never understood Gatlinburg- the location is unreal, yet G'burg and Pigeon Forge seem to cater to the people who would never set foot into the park or care about the natural beauty of the place. OK- they maybe drive Cades Cove, but not get out of the car. We didn't have spring break plans last year, so ended up taking the kids for a few days-stayed on the Park end of G'burg, so we could walk to the Nature Center (a long walk for a 3 yr old!). The Aquarium was great! Kate and I spent hours riding up and down the chairlift. It is an easy place to take kids- fast food, junky shopping, etc.

Finding good food is a challenge. Finding decent shopping is a challenge- the outdoors store and a couple galleries come to mind, and that is it except for places that sell mens underwear that read "Don't walk behind me- I just farted." Quality merchandise. I learned the "secret" way around Pigeon Forge heading to I-40, so I can avoid most of that hell hole now too.

I told GB they should charge an entry fee at the front gate that would cover all the cheezy musuems. Kinda like a theme park

Did you go to Ripley's??? :rolling: Or the car museum?

Took my 4 FRIGGIN HOURS to get back from Gburg today :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang:
RO, the same thing just happened to my 3 older kids and their dad--they went last month, and they were (in theory) about 2-1/2 hours away when they hit some horrible traffic and ended up being in the car for 5 more hours. They called me and said they had gotten out of the car and were playing football! It was terrible.

I think it is very fitting that Clingman's Dome, being so close to Gatlinburg, has a paved parking lot :bang:, and that the shelters in the Great Smokies Nat. Park use to be fenced in to provide protection from the critters, or, is it the other way around?
