Google Chrome

New posts
There was an earlier thread about it - I was liking it until it started doing a couple of little odd things. Probably only relevant to web design but i went back to FF. I imagine Google is putting lots of resources toward it and will come up with something special.

I'm with Kurt in that Google is making a fortune and will surely recreate Chrome as we go forward in time. I've used Chrome and find it inferior to FireFox at this time. Watch Google grow even more in the future as it puts a Droid in everyone's hands that don't already have an iPhone. Only 1% of cell phone users are iPhoners, so the potential market share of Google subscribers (Droid) is HUGE and Google will use the smart phones to control more of the internet connectivity and content of smart phone users. They will change the way in which we search for the basics on our phones. I'm surprised at how little the majority of people know about their smart phone features, especially when it comes to using the web features. iPhone users seem to be ahead of the curb in that department.

While Chrome seems to be remaining stagnet currently, FireFox appears to be constantly changing for the better, adding new features with the upgrades. Beta versions are available if you want to explore the future a bit.

We have had so many problems with Firefox crashing almost daily. Will has switched over to Chrome and loves it (couldn't tell you why- other than he says it works better than Firefox). He wants to switch my computer over.

I ran them both side by side for a while. FF performed better, IMHO. I've never had crashing issues like Jdarg which may have been related to some sort of software incompatability. In the long run, it just out perfomed Chrome.

Do you have a Droid?

I have seen "Beta Versions" but don't know what that means. So.... What is a Beta Version?

It's basically a test version. They let you download it and use it, but you are doing it more or less at your risk because they are still trying to flesh out any operating issues. They like people to try and break it so they can take that info and make it better. Once they get it where they want it, they make it available for mass release, and it will pop up as an update for current FF users...

Chrome has lost major funding because the Google developers working on it have been moved to the Google operating system. Fire Fox continues to lead in the market, but once Google rolls out it's operating system (expected to work on both PC's and Mac's) then Chrome will start to be a major threat to FF.

No droid for me. I still don't like touch screen and the pop out key pad is makes it another two hand machine for me. I learned typing the old fashion way, and need to feel the keys with my fingers, or thumbs in the case of my blackberry. I'm not a good typist on a touch screen because I have to look at the keys AND the screen to see what I am typing. That is one big drawback to something like the iPad for me. I need to rest my fingers on the keys and when you do that with the iPad, I cannot feel my place on the keyboard.

Google is taking over the world.

I've been an Android user since launch. Currently using Chrome lite, it's def the smoothest IE out IMO. I don't use MS IE, period.
