A survey conducted by GOP pollster Fabrizio, McLaughlin & Associates -- the same firm that conducted polls for Florida Gov. Rick Scott's campaign -- found that 57 percent of Floridians support legalization of medicinal marijuana.

?This news comes as sources say there is a serious movement afoot to bring the issue to the Florida ballot in 2012. Such a referendum would require 60 percent of voters to legalize the green stuff so long as it is prescribed by a doctor.

A total of 800 voters in the poll, which was leaked to the Pulp, were asked the question: "If there was a Constitutional Amendment on the statewide ballot to legalize the use of marijuana for medicinal purposes only when prescribed by a practicing physician and the election were held today, would you vote YES to legalize marijuana for medicinal purposes or NO to stop it?"

So he is pro-pill factories AND pro-pot?

Based on my experiences with "legal as long as you have a prescription", there need to be restrictions on which doctors can prescribe it.

Typically the majority of prescriptions are written by a few doctors who have a history of licensing and legal issues.

Also need to specify how close dispensaries can be located places like schools.

That sounds as though those are regulations which might inhibit business and he is pro business and anti regulation. Also if its like anything like California we'll be having cities that will want to expand it contrary to State and Federal restrictions. Then we can be like some western states where having acertain amount would not be enforced. Oh this is just my opinion.

All the details can be fleshed out in state law. The amendment would simply legalize it. I think with a little positive advertising another 2 or 3 percent could be won over allowing such a change to pass. Then we could tax the stuff.

Sorry Florida will not tax the stuff, we don't tax medicine.

How come that has never come up before in all the discussions about how legalizing pot is the way to balance the budget?

Weird - Google seems to say Florida has a sales tax exemption for food, prescription medicine, and OTC medicine.

I thought OTC was taxable.
