need your help. We are planning on doing our stretch of adopted highway 98 this Saturday at 9am. Our highway area is between 283 and 395. The Scenic Corridor Assocoation is doing their bi-annual cleanup also, so we're going to get vests and bags from them. We would like to have as many of our friends join us in this effort as possible, to make the job go quickly and efficiently. We will meet at the NE corner of 98 and Bay Drive. PM myself or Grayton kid for more detail.

Bump Bump

First report back....steelemama and I had to return early. She was meeeting with her mama and Miss Kitty is packing it up, washing slipcovers and dehairing the furniture!

You would have been proud of your fellow sowallers. It was a small but mighty group armed with trash bags and nimble fingers. No orange vests this time...we actually jumped the gun by a weekend for the official pickup, but trash waits for no man!

reporting back in. we actually were on the right weekend, based on the letter i got. dissapointed and confused as to why there was no one at publix sandestin at the predetermined meeting time, wierd. we were out there for 3 hours and only got the north side done. working steeles needed to start heading to work, dreads had gig to set up for, and pregnant steele needed to get off her feet. jeez louise, people think the roadside is a good place for things they don't want anymore. and, it seems like they don't want a lot.

we filled up around 20 bags of stuff, mostly styrofoam clamshells and coffee cups, followed by plastic grocery bags, and aluminum cans, and of course the carpet of cigarette butts. the butt pickers got fed up and stopped picking their butts. thanks to the family steele including brad the dad, who i hadn't met before, balder saunders, dan the tile man, and sue for all their much needed help. we definitely could use more peole next time, hint to those who live here.
