Gun Fire in Point Washington 3AM Wed 3/4/09 ?

woke me up at 3am and it went on for a while.. lots of fairly rapid gun shots. sounded like it was right outside my window but hard to tell direction with all the water around.
a neighbor said the sheriff came out and looked around. don't know who called them - don't think they found out who or what was going on.

Toots, Fuzz heard it all the way over here! I slept through it but it woke him up. He was concerned as it didn't sound like your typical shotgun or rifle night hunter. We have a neighbor who likes to fire a machine gun, but he calls everybody first (so noone is frightened) and never in the middle of the night!
I just mentioned to him that you heard it too, and he thinks it may have been across the canal, over at Bunker. But

that's our guess. usually when we hear anything wild going on late at night its coming from kids or campers over that way.
