Thank you for the nice notice of my B'day!
No, I'm not packing yet--one of the "perks" of my move is that my new college is paying for my packing--thank God! (I'm an historian as well as a dean--and my books alone are a daunting task). My office and home will get packed later this month--and by June 28th, we'll be loaded to move. Here in NY, "closing and possession" are the same thing (I know in TN and elsewhere that these two events are separate--thus we'll be "homeless" till July 3rd).

My birthday present to myself is something that has come out of this move--the woman who is moving out of the Memphis house wanted to sell her baby grand piano. I've been taking lessons for two and half years (very good therapy--I recommend it highly!) Evidently, the living room in my new house was built specially for this piano--so how could I resist!

May I be the first to say Welcome to Memphis! Where is your new home? And which college are you coming to? I am currently working on my MBA at Christian Brothers University here.
