Get him a Green Egg, Sueshore! My brother has one and it is so good it would turn a hard-core vegetarian into a meat-eater. No Joke! Pork chops in the Egg are incredible...yummmmmmmmmmm

i got my husband one of these eggs this spring and let me tell you - they are wonderful. everything turns out so good, you can't go wrong with one. in fact i got him a "mini-egg" for christmas, because he is so addicted to cooking on it in the summer he misses it while we are on vacation. so now it will be burgers, dogs, and shrimp at the beach in may. ps mermaid, tell your brother to try meatloaf in the egg if he hasn't already cooked with hickory chips. ok, my mouth is watering now

Audie, I will tell him that. I don't know if he's done the meatloaf, but there are always hickory chips in the Egg. He lives in Atlanta so he can pretty well grill 12 months of the year. Not like us! My yard is a sheet of ice. The mailman left the mail on the steps today because he didn't want to break his neck on the ice--smart man! I bet it's the same with you, huh?

we seem to have escaped the worst of the ice, dayton had more and sounds like you did too. i am just glad i didn't have to work last week, and my car wasn't sitting in the parking lot getting iced over - that's the worst. it's lucky for us my brother in law works for the street department, and 4 of us here on our cul-de-sac work at the hospital, so he always has someone salt/scrape us pretty quickly here.

Although I am not on my own Christmas list, I am probably very difficult to buy for. I have everything I want or need, I try to be a minimalist, and I hate the idea of giving because you "have to." The coolest gifts I receive are things that are personal and meaningful, if only in thought, to the person(s) giving them. One of my most treasured gifts was a poem written by a friend. I would take a drawing, poem, or a hand written note, or thought over any material gift every day of the week.

I so totally agree, SJ!!! In fact, I have tried to "skip Christmas" for years, but keep getting over ruled or manipulated into participating. I think it should be about being with loved ones and doing special things together. No gifts because you "drew" their name or because you know they are getting you a gift.

We give gifts all year long and just about anytime we visit or are visted by loved ones. This year I think I've convinced my husband (and some of the family) that it will be a minimal present year.....we'll see. I'll let you know how this goes.

HO!!!! HO!!!!!

DABELL...You are back and writing in riddles!!!! What does HBO.com mean and where the heck have you been?????

My Father In Law. He doesn't really NEED anything. We gave him a photo calendar last year and he refused to use it because he didn't want to "mess it up". Same with shoes, clothes, other items. He lives very frugally, even thought he doesn't have to--it drives my hubby crazy. He won't even use the answering machine, because he thinks it uses too much electricity. You gotta love him!

I tend to do all of my shopping in one day. Usually a weekday. I just start in the morning and go til I'm done. But, I have been known to be out on Christmas Eve a couple of times--for just one more gift.
