My name is Ryan Cothran. I am a new resident of Blue Mountain Beach. My wife, Anna, and I moved here the first of August from New Orleans. I am a 4th grade school teacher at Butler Elementary and she is a lawyer in Destin.
We started vacationing here in March of '08. My wife had a few days off and we were looking for a new place away from all the hustle and bustle of big vacation destinations (destin, gulf shores, pc...). It took a while, but I finally found "Grayton Beach: Nice dogs, strange people". That sounded about right on for us. So, we came...
Legal practice is my wife's work, but her real love is in canine recreation, so I was looking for a "dog friendly" beach. Abby, our dog, like us, immediately fell in love with the beautiful beaches, walking trails, and sunshine.
Initially, that's what brought us here, and I am happy to say a year and a half later, we left the big easy and came to the....well...smaller easy. As of right now, we cant think of a better place to live....and later on, to die.
If you have lived here for a while and have forgotten what an amazing place Santa Rosa Beach is, might I challenge you to become a tourist again. Life here is so amazing and I feel as though this is the one place in the world God laid out for me in his wondrous architectural plan known as "the Earth". Thank you for welcoming my wife and I with open arms and I look forward to meeting you all!
Places to catch the Cothran's:
1. Bikiing/Running on 30-A
2. Hibiscus Coffeehouse: eating or tutoring (I started a tutoring service in the Cheri Peebles coffeehouse from 3:30-4:30 daily).
3. Where there's music or movies: we like to have a drink and listen to live music. Also, we love the "outdoor theater" that pops up from time to time.
4. Faith Assembly: "The Rock-n-Roll Church" Quote from my friend about the church: "That's the best concert I've been to in quite a while...Oh, and the sermon was pretty good, too!"
5. Wherever there is Auburn football, Braves baseball, or Saints football, I will probably be there.
6. Stinky's: Good food....good drinks...good music....good people...what else do ya need?
Hope we see ya around!
