Help me escape the dreadful heat of Summer in Dallas....

Some suggestions:

Northern AZ - Absolutely beautiful!

Santa Fe, NM sits at 8,000'. I'm sure it pretty nice.

Colorado mtn towns. No humidity and very cool nights.

I'm going with RO here. All gorgeous places. Ok, I haven't been to Northern AZ. But, have always heard good stuff.

Cape Cod, particularly Provincetown. The beaches are spectacular. The water is COLD, you can go whale watching, lots to do in some of the other towns for day trips. Great restaurants, interesting people-- where else can you go and watch a cabaret with Liza Minelli and Cher look alikes seated next to other straight couples and have fun? I have a Cape Cod book I can send you. I have extras because I have been meaning to send them to DD.

...THANKS, y'all are amazing!!! What wonderful suggestions! I did forget to tell you we did an Alaskan cruise with the kids...one of our best trips, ever!! I could def go back there!

I am picking up Mr. K in a bit and will show him this thread! He had sent me a link to a fancy dude ranch in Montana, which spurred (Ha!) me on to ask y'all the question! Is this a great country or what?

the mountains just north of Flagstaff AZ are fantastic...the San Francisco Peaks, I think they
're called. If you go to Oregon there is a little town called Seaside right on the beach and a wonderful state park nearby which has a memorial to the Lewis and Clark first sighting of the Pacific.

North Rim of the Grand Canyon .........We'll be there in Aug........highs in the low 80's low's in the high 40's. And the serenity is like the beach.

Santa Fe has always worked for us. It's one of the coolest art destinations on the planet. Great food, people and culture. Considering that it is the highest (elevation) capital in the country with a low population makes it even more palatable. Enjoy!!!
