OK...my 6000th post and I have a few random, scattered thoughts about SoWal.
Janurary...Visit to Kurt & Toots, newly seperated and enjoying being alone, but missing something in my life. Toots introduces me to the board. I got home, in love with Kurt, Toots, Spidey and SoWal area
Once home, I visited the board and the rest is history. I have enjoyed every minute of posting and reading others posts. It has been a lifesaver for me. I was so accustomed to a constant round of parties, entertaining, going out, having people over, cooking for 10-20 friends, being the center of attention ( I am talking 15 years of this) Stepping away from my marriage and that way of life was a conscious decision, and I loved loved loved being on my own! I was so tired of that life, and SoWal has shown me a better way of life, non judgemental, loving, caring and diverse! I love the diversity of this board! Everyone on here brings so much to this "place" and we are all true friends...in a most unconventional way (but not so much as it used to be...the internet is the meeting place of the future!) I do not feel pathetic that I come home from work and immideatly turn on SoWal. It is much better than watching TV, going out bar hopping or sitting alone.
I know that my life is in hiatius (I know, I am a terrible speller...
) And I am in transition, but SoWal and all you wonderful people, have helped to guide me through this time of my life. On this board, we are able to "meet" and talk as friends, without distractions, and without the fear of having to be perfect. Everyone on here can be themselves and we care about them. Unfortunately, some that have been on here do not understand that to survive on this board, you can not take yourself too seriously, and you can not expect others to take you too seriously either. There is nothing wrong with this. It is human nature, but this board is such an eclectic group of people! that we exemplify this concept. I have enjoyed getting to know each and every one of you, I feel very fortunate to have been included in this group. And the power of this board was truly felt in the past few months with the all night smoking, drinking, cussing night, the soiree and all the get togethers while Sueshore has been there in SoWal. Kurt has created a wonderful enviornment here, and I am thankful to him and applaud his vision.
All this being said...I also want to thank you all for truly helping me adjust to a new way of life. It is one that I have craved for many years, and you have helped me from being lonely....you have indeed helped me "transition"...and continue to do so! I also love the fact that you all know ME as the person I am and not the person I was.
