Dial-up  I am frugal on some things and with a daughter in college, I save where I can. One day I will move up to high speed.

I am not dissin' ya' for being on dial-up. Currently, I am working on building a website and am curious to know your connection types so that I don't slow the site down so much that people will leave the site before exploring it.

Will you please mark your answers in the poll above? Thanks;-)

"Dial-up" brings back such fond memories! About four years ago, when I didn't know how to use a computer, my son and husband, the computer geeks of our family, wanted high speed. I asked them if they ever did anything useful on the computer and of course they both said NO. So I said NO to the more expensive high speed. (Yes, I'm the household scrooge.) Then one day they both came to me to plead their case--they'd found an ad offering high speed for half-price for the first six month! I relented and said they could get it, but I made the boy child pay the difference in the price for the second six months.

Funny thing is, from being completely ignorant of a computer, I turned into its biggest fan! High speed has been the ruination of me. :funn:

High speed.
Back in '95 we got our first home computer and used dial-up. Woe to anyone who might be trying to call us. Later we got a second line.
Finally the husband relented and we got high speed, but we had to give up Caller ID; like others mentioned, you just might not be able to have every little tech luxury.

Very similar story in our house, Mermaid! Mr. Pod convinced me to give it a try during the discounted trial period, and I said, "Fine, then we'll go back to dial-up." He laughed. He was convinced I'd never go back, and--darn it!--he was right.

I know all about that.

High speed, but I accidentally voted for dial-up. Sorry. Your research is flawed now.
Shouldn't you be at school? ;-)
