If you rent here, you'll still be in Historic South Walton County. Reviewing maps in the Atlas of Florida Counties indicates that this area was in Walton County from about 1851 through 1915. It was not in the original borders of Walton County when it was founded in 1824. Makes sense that Camp Walton would have been in Walton County at one time. South Walton had left Walton County to be part of newly formed Washington County in 1825 and didn't return until 1913. So, this area could have been part of "SoWal" at least from 1913 to 1915. In 1915 Okaloosa County was made half out of Walton County and half out of Santa Rosa County. Florida now has 67 counties and the borders changed many times.
