Are these interior shutters protective in case of hurricanes? This would be great if they look nice and are easy to close. Of course, the exterior windows wouldn't be saved in a hurricane, but the interior of the house could be, right? I would be interested in learning more if these interior shutters (or any interior window covering) look nice and really are protective during a hurricane. Thanks.

Good morning!

My products are strickly "interior" decorative/functional window treatments. They are not for hurricane protection.
I can give you a "free estimate" for your interior products and show you the options.
Interior plantation shutters offer a great look, excellent privacy options and add value to the home!

For exterior hurricane protection, there are many options.

Also, if you choose hurricane rated laminated glass, you will not need any other option for protection and you will never have to cover the glass openning!

Remember every option is price oriented. Better coverage, higher price.

:wave:Good luck and call me for your free interior treatment consultation!

If you design a Louisiana-style home with exterior shutters that are both decorative and functional hurricane shutters, that would work. There are a few examples at the intersection of 30A and Santa Clara in Seagrove. The shutters can be closed from the inside without having to use ladders.

But I think that the current code for exterior windows is such that they are hurricane-proof without needing shutters.

There are several houses along 30A that have some windows with functional hurricane shutters and some windows with no shutters. Not sure what the plan is for the unshuttered windows. :idontno:

Thanks all. Just something I've been thinking about, but not ready to move on anything yet.
