How Incredibly Sad...

I think you are probably right. Opposition will take advantage of any opportunity to forward their political party - largely by trying to make opposing party look bad. To some this is more important than rallying the troops, so to speak, around a common cause. I'm not sure we'll ever see those days again. :(

.

I think some of it is justifiable criticism from people who support the efforts to save the gulf. Of course many continue to support the president politically. I think it's the duty of everyone to support the cause of saving the gulf whether or not you support the president politically.

I hate to point this out, but if the oil isn't stopped then South Walton and by association sowal.com will become the sleepy little hamlet they once were.

SoWal.com will never be sleepy, it will continue to be the front runner and formost information center for those who do and do not live here....we will always look to this site for immediate information, feedback and affirmation

I consider it more than *****ing and griping. for some it is a need to vent-hopefully among friends who will remain friends after the smoke clears. everyone needs a little time to gripe during stressful times and griping takes many forms. maybe letting off a little steam here means we can go about whatever we do with a lighter heart. hopefully viewers will take all info with a grain of salt and arrive at a balance without taking it personally and will see how a diverse Sowal can stick together for the issues that matter.

Darlene, I discussed this by default with a sowaller last night. It seems that the increase in anger is oddly parallel to the growing disdain with BP and the President. I remain hopeful for a miracle, but like many others, don't believe a word from BP any longer.

Aggie is right, one or two run the board and there aren't many people in the Lounge right now. Maybe we should resurrect the Lounge?

At the risk of opening a can of worms, can you send me a PM and explain this?

The political subforum on any internet forum is a place for all the malcontents to gather, because they come like flies. The more crap you got on your site, the more flies you got. Better they buzz in a political subforum than other subforums, right?

That doesn't mean everyone in the political forum is a malcontent and trouble maker, but those who aren't should not get upset when they peak inside. And then there are those on "the other side" who continuously beat their heads against the wall trying to speak to the bad element, feeding the trolls. The fatter trolls get the meaner they get.

In short, don't feed the trolls and they go away. If they are banned (and some are) they are just replaced by others. Better the devil you know....

As a person I have certain beliefs and am usually pretty quiet about them. As a publisher, I welcome all comers, unless they are really nasty and are no good to anyone.

The people you have a problem with on this forum are your neighbors, like it or not. In the end, online or offline, your community is what each and every one of us make it. My focus is on being helpful (and real), and I hope that rubs off on at least one person.

End of manifesto.

The only message I have for everyone at the moment is - go outside. :D

Why does this have to turn into something political?? In times of crisis, people of all races, colors and political ambition should join together to help and solve the crisis. We should be a nation that can come together in times of need!!!!!!!

Once again, if the topics and threads outside the lounge are not your cup of tea, don't go there. I hate seeing y'all that loved the Sowal of 20 people in the lounge keep mourning. We have local and national issues that affect us and a place to discuss them. Sorry but the political forums don't have to be "funn"!

Did not realize this thread was in lounge, but once again, people have the choice not to read. Sorry friends, but tired of the complaining about what is discussed, argued, and debated on SoWal. I pick and choose what threads to open, read, and respond to- it is not hard.

Wow, I guess you told me and I get it.

p.s. I am not mourning, just disappointed that is all.

I get both sides. If something is disturbing to me, I stay away. My comment regarding two running the board was in agreement to post #7. Sometimes, it certainly does appear this way....and, at any given time the one or two can change. More people should practice the 'understanding both sides' or 'go outside.'
