Hello SoWal people - as of now, a Mobile area landfall would bring us plenty of wind, rain, and heavy surf to South Walton. The next 24 hours will tell us much more about the strength and direction.

Walton County Emergency Management has lots of good info about preparations and plans for storm events.

As of October 7, 2026, Tropical Storm Isaias is over the southwestern Gulf of Mexico, off eastern Mexico, with maximum sustained winds of 40 mph. It is forecast to strengthen into a hurricane Thursday and could reach at least Category 2 strength by Friday evening. The most likely forecast currently calls for a Category 2 hurricane near landfall, though wind shear could affect its strength.
The storm is expected to track generally east, then north, with potential landfall along the northern Gulf Coast—from Louisiana to the Florida Panhandle—late Friday or early Saturday. The exact track and timing remain uncertain. Main threats include storm surge, damaging winds, and heavy rain; locally, rainfall could reach 10 inches, with flooding possible well inland across parts of the Southeast.

If you’re in the Gulf Coast region, keep monitoring official forecasts and local alerts, and have hurricane plans ready. Never drive through floodwater.

Do we have to pronounce Isaias that weird way, or can we fake it and call it Isaiah?
