Hwy 331 may soon become, "The Beach Highway"

Just don't change the postal addresses from U.S. Hwy 331 S. The postal service is screwed up enough already.

Not to worry. The DOT already bought the right of way for much of the road south of Defuniak, and they have torn down most of the businesses.

Man you guys jump off on some of the darnedest things. This name change is nothing more than a legislative resolution. There are roads all over this State, for that matter in Walton County, that have those little brown signs where the legislature adopted a name for a segment of road. It means nothing. It does not affect addresses, signs, or anything else for that matter. Going to be interesting though how they do that when the legislature just recently named a section of 331.


The secondary road name for US Highway 331 S inside the City of DeFuniak Springs is Freeport Highway. Roads can have multiple names according to the Postal Service. They would prefer that everyone use the primary name, but as long as they have it in their database they can handle a second, third, or more naming system.
