I can't think of any crime he committed simply by confessing to a murder he did not commit.

He is still under warrant for posessing child pornography and skipping bail in California. But with the way the legal system works in that whacked-out state, he'll likely just get probation - provided they decide to pursue it.

If there is a positive to the fact he's achieved the notoriety he obviously wanted, it is that every single person in America knows who he is and no one will unwittingly let him around children again.
