In need of opinions

I have NEVER heard of an auto mechanic making house calls but it sounds like a really good idea! Do you know others who do this, here or elsewhere? I would try to find out as much as possible about the potential, problems, etc. If you are an excellent mechanic offering prompt and reliable service - I don't know how you could possibly go wrong... good luck TJ and keep us posted!!!

I have family in atlanta where there are quite a bit of mobile auto mechanics. Some have been around for a long time some did not last very long. I believe that being honest and fair is going to make this idea work out.

I'm just wondering what kind of lifts you have, what kind of truck, what kinds of tools? You might need a large vehicle to haul all the equipment you might need. At least a garage is in the shade. You can't count on that when you make house-calls. I'm sure you can work it out.

i have two different trucks, a 02 chevy s-10 zr-2, and i have access to a ford f-250 diesel. two trailors, one 16ft and one 18ft. i have no lift right now, but i have jack stands, i have a mixture of snap-on, mac, matco and craftsmans tools. as well as an air compressor to operate my air tools.

I think there's a lot to be said for the idea. I have no need right now, but one thing that would help I think is if you're willing to work weekends. First off, a lot of the repair shops are closed on the weekends. The other thing is, on weekends, a lot of people don't need their car for work and they're at home. It really sucks when you have to take your car in during the week (or any time for that matter). How nice to be able to cut the grass on a Saturday while somebody rotates your tires and changes the oil.

im more than willing to work on weekends, kind of goes with the idea of a being 24/7 towing service too. I forgot to add this in the original post but im not limited to just cars and trucks, i can work on motorcycles, scooters, ATVs, and anything in between

Tire mounting would be a great service. Just giving you ideas.

You are correct. The thing with tire mounting/balancing is that I would need two different machines. Both cost about 10k each. Although I do have the abilty to use those machines at a independent shop in the area

This would also be a great service for tourists! I am sure there are some who need auto mechanic assistance while they are here or in Destin. How cool would it be for them to have the service come to them and fix their car while on vacation...it would be a relief, I am sure.
