Inlet Beach

I'm curious if there is any other way to come out close to Inlet Beach other than taking 331 from the Alabama/Florida line? That really slows us down a good deal having to go 331 and be slowed down through all the small towns. We come down Interstate 65 to just south of Montgomery, AL and then pick up Hwy 55 at Andalusia and stay on it to Florala, and of course that is where we pick up Hwy. 331. It takes us forever on Hwy 331 and I would love for once to get in to where we are staying before 3:00 to 4:00 o'clock. Anybody take Hwy 79, according to the atlas that is a little closer to Inlet Beach, and I believe it does go to 98. Anyone know if Hwy 55 runs into what I think is Interstate 20, thinking it may run into 79! Thanks.

We take 231 South out of Dothan and catch I-10 West to 79 South. That intersects 98 and we turn right and go to Inlet Beach. Not much traffic, but parts of 79 are slow due to small towns. It's the best route for us. We're coming from Atlanta.

Thanks Starfish, btw, love your user name. I guess there just is no great fast way to go where 331 and 79 are concerned. That does not bypass any of that small town traffic either. I guess we could somehow intersect I-10 going 55 to 331 and go I-10 to the east, might take about the same amount of time though. The first year we came we really did not know how to go and took 65 to 231 and came down through Panama City proper which was way too far to the east of where we were supposed to be. I guess we will stick with the way we come since that is closer for us.

79 isn't that bad....just have to watch your speed...they will nail you to the wall! (just ask Mama Seacrestgirl)

They are working hard to expand most of 79 to 4 lanes...I can't wait until they are done!

From the way you are coming Lady D, 331 should be quicker...

Well, we will be coming in on Friday instead of Saturday so that will cut off a good deal of the traffic problems with 331.
