invisible crabs at dusk

we're staying up at camp creek. what's with all these invisible little white crabs that run into little holes all over the upper beach at dusk. I've never seen so many. they're kind of creepy.

GHOST CRABS! I have never heard of anyone being pinched by one. Maybe someone else will post more information on them for you.

Just curious if you are afraid of spiders like me? Some crabs (normally the slower ones near the bay) creep me out because they remind me too much of big spiders!

yes. I believe I have arachnaphobia, all bugs, mostly spiders. My little brothers used to chase me with grandaddy long legs. I seem to attract them too. I have a ridiculous fear of wasps also. And I'm a country girl.

fyi - they're harmless. stick em on a hook and use them as bait.
