I've kept my mouth shut, but can't take it anymore

After being personally bashed on SoWal for my political beliefs, I took a break, but I can no longer "let it go." When Barack Obama was elected, although I did not vote for him, I was willing to give him a chance. However, less than a week has passed since the election and there are disturbing signals from Obama and his team that this is going to be an interesting 4 years.

Below is a link where a member of Obama's team talks about the fact that he will be "ready to rule on day one." Add that to the fact that there is talk about a national holiday to honor him, and that he is planning to keep is campaign database handy (so he know who supported him ;-) ;-) so he can dole out pay-backs) and he is starting to sound more and more like a dictator.

I seriously thought that American Presidents GOVERNED, not ruled like a king. Silly me for misinterpreting the constitution--but that is all down the toilet anyway.

I've had my say and now let the personal bashing begin . . .

Don't forget the link:

I was looking forward to a respite now that the election was over, but that was apparently just a crazy dream.

Could we please just wait until he actually takes office before we start criticizing his presidency?

newsbusters.org...is that like rueters, or upi...perhaps even ap?

video link of NBC interview with Tom Brokaw on Meet the Press. If you don't like this source, you can find it somewhere else.

No. He is the President-Elect therefore all his actions leading up to the actual inauguration are fair game. The team he has now is the same team he will have in the White House.

It hasn't even been a week yet.

Please don't get too upset because someone said rule instead of govern. He hasn't said this and he hasn't moved for a holiday. If he keeps his campaign database maybe it's to use the next time he runs a campaign. I'm a saver, it doesn't have to be bad that he saves it. If he destroyed it someone would be complaining that he was hiding something.

Maybe we can wait a bit and not judge him until he gives us something to judge. I'm sure there will be something, he's human, he'll make a mistake.

If he'll wait until he takes office to start his presidency....

Welcome back. Sorry you feel like you were personally bashed. It is my hope that you see my posts that disagree with yours as debate and the exchange of ideas rather than attacks. So here goes-

IMHO, if someone is really giving President Obama a chance then they wouldn't find it distrurbing that his transition team and advisors are working so hard to ensure President Obama is ready to go on day one even if they used the words, "ready to rule". I really believe your bias/filters is making you hear Jarrett's statement differently than it was intended...

You said there is talk of a national holiday to honor him. I did not find mention of this in the blog you posted so I googled. Here is a link-

http://www.worldnetdaily.com/?pageId=80584

There is apparently a small "civil rights" group in Kansas who wants to meet a their local McDonald's every week to start a movement to make November 4th a national holiday to commemorate the election. CCK, don't let information like this jade you. Just because a dozen or so people think this is a good idea should not negate the fact that the rest of us (dems and repubs) believe talk of a national holiday to honor Obama is premature by a quarter to a half a century- and that's assuming he even goes on to do great things as president. It would be no different if McCain or Hillary won and a group of Palin or Hillary supporters prematurely wanted to make a national holiday commemorating their achievements. In such a case, folks who didn't vote for them would be way off in using the enthusiasm of a few people as the basis of withholding support or at least giving them a true chance. One last note- There is also talk of a national holiday for Obama in Kenya. This makes sense to me and seems appropriate...

Finally, regarding your last point on Obama keeping the database of his supporters. You find this to be disturbing? Are you kidding? Obama would be a fool if he didn't hang on to his donor list (as would any other politican on either side of the aisle). This is to help him in 2012 but much can be done before then with respect to getting people involved and keeping them informed. I cannot imagine dems after an election (if/when repubs won) viewing the idea that the repubs want to keep their database as anything out of the ordinary (or negative)...

You said after he was elected that you decided to give President Obama a chance. It does not appear to be so to this nonattacker...

:idontno:

EDIT: One last thing- you should really consider alternative news/information sources. Watch The Factor (Fox News) and AC360 (CNN). Listen to NPR on the way to work and Rush on the way home. Find an over the top biased opinon blog that supports Obama and mistrusts the GOP to balance the one you posted here.

He's keeping his campaign database so he knows who to garner support from when he declares Sharia Law.

Actually, the maintaining of the database is to keep the public informed on issues and also maintain the grass roots efforts he hopes to continue and implement, like Volunteers Corp. Similar to FDR's fireside radio chats, (which people loved so much) except now via technology.

The Constitution was thrown out the door a while back, with the UNpatriot Act. No new news here.

Just wait until Obama has to herd the 500+ members of Congress. It will be like herding cats.
