I've kept my mouth shut, but can't take it anymore

It is a myth that Bush lowered taxes. The federal government in 2007 collected $1 trillion more in revenues than it did in 2000. The rich paid more, not less.

Pls disprove the "myth". Just because tax revenues went up does not mean that taxes weren't cut. Um, maybe they earned more which required them to pay more in taxes despite the tax cuts...

:idontno:

Tax rates were cut but revenues over the seven years since 2000 have increased.

Yes. Agreed. But how does this equate to your statement that GW cutting taxes is a myth? He did cut taxes.

He cut tax rates. Tax "revenue" to the federal government increased over GWB's seven years. Of course, the operative problem is that the federal government spent too much money over those seven years. Deficits are always the result of too much spending. You cannot raise enough money to cover deficits because the Congress and the President can always find ways to spend it. I fear we are stuck in a permanent deficit/debt cycle. I don't see how it can ever be balanced again. Our one opportunity is to get the economy running on all eight cylinders. Excuse me, in this day and time, four cylinders. :D Nothing increases tax revenue to the federal government like a whirling economy.

I certainly agree with the latter part of your argument - let's get this friggin economy rolling again - no more unnecessary wars and certainly no more bail outs of irresponsible companies....

Actually a good war might be just what the doctor ordered.

I find this comment to be insensitive. Apparently you have never served in a war; had a loved one serve, or especially lost a loved one to war...war is never the answer to anything, and to trivalize it so shows a complete lack of understanding of what others have endured and sacrificed.
