I am trying to understand why there are over 14 people running for the Republican Party Presidential Candidate. While it is very scary, daunting, and downright icky sometimes, I am trying to understand the Republican Mind. First of all, does every tom, dick, and harry, in the Party really think they are qualified to be President? Is there that much ego-centric delusion involved in that party? And second of all: can't anybody in the Republican Party agree and get along with anybody? Not even leaders in their own party? I mean, how really different is the philosophy of Jindal to Huckabee? How different is Jeb to The Donald? They all seem to be divisive rather than coherent. They seem to act like TV preachers on different channels. They all rail against the "Devil", but that's about it.

I know it's great for ratings, and the cable news and comedy central channels love it, but just for the sake of our country, can't they all just sit in a smoky room, find some common ground, compromise, (ha,ha,ha, I make a joke) and come out with one main candidate, and (lord, I make another joke) one coherent agenda?

I am a staunch Democrat, but our country would probably benefit if the Republican Party stopped being such a clown show, with delusions of grandeur, and started proposing ideas, that could be honestly debated.

You make a joke, you are a joke if you have no better understanding of our political process than what you have displayed here. And you have the nerve to talk about a "clown show" with what we have seen from the present administration? The economy growing at a less than3% rate, a foreign policy that is non-existent, the military being depleted to the point of non functionality. I could go on but why bother. I have my opinion and you have yours, flawed as it may be in my old eyes. I hope the next election cures a lot of the problems I see in our great nation but you obviously don't because you are not looking far enough ahead. It is not a matter of political party, it is a matter of pragmatism and common sense which some here seem to be completely lacking.

My question, while adorned with my usual suspect humor, was actually serious. Why are there 14 candidates. I've been on this planet almost as long as you, and I can't remember a time when there have been 14 people who think they can run this country without putting forth a coherent plan to do so.

The Republicans want to take us back to the good old days of "W" with his two crusades, financial crisis, and the disappearing surplus.

The standards of the GOP are almost non-existent, that's why there are so many candidates. It started with W and a phrase he coined, "the soft bigotry of low expectations", which turned out to a self-characterization more than anything else.

Is it your opinion that Obama's 2 terms have been total failures with no positives for the country or citizens?

Basically, yes. His sucesses for the populace as a whole, have been few and far between. He has made sure that those who would vote for him have benefited to some degree but when you have little you are grateful for any crumbs. Instead of work programs and projects such as the WPA, we get increases in welfare benefits while no output is required. Now, before many of you start the accusation that I am against welfare, nothing could be further from the truth. There are those with definite and defined needs and deserve help. There are also those who are slackers and pure takers. I certainly support assistance for the former.

I was hoping to avoid another round of Obama bashing. I was wondering why the Republicans can even get along with each other. They seem to be a bunch of buffoons, tripping over themselves trying to demonize someone who has achieved wonderful things for tens of millions of American. When you don't have a better plan, you need to shut up and sit down.

The only justification for the Obama bashing is the very real possibility that he will be running for a third term, which of course he would win handily.

I am only "bashing" Obama because for any hard working American he has been totally inept and ineffective. Believe what you want, but all actual facts concerning our present state as a nation bear this out.
