Well, my son has officially entered the teen years! He is sporting a full mouth of braces as of today! (Miss kitty, molly would be so proud of him). He got red bands, good choice seeing as thought I am an Alabama fan, you didn't know that did you? Braces have sure come a along way from when I was growing up. Thankfully, I never had to wear them, but alot of my friends did. They look so different now, and man are they expensive!!! Oh well, the price we pay for straight teeth. I will just without clothes, or food or anything else that matter for the next 2 years to pay for them.

I feel your pain. Will's went on 3 weeks ago. It's like worrying about a 3rd child by the time YOU worry about THEM taking care of your "investment"!

You are so right Jen-ay, I just went on the orthodontics website because they told me I needed to check out the do's and don'ts. OMG, it is going to be a rough 14-18 months. However, I will be diligent about what he can and can't eat or drink. Not being able to drink any soda is going to be rough for him, but maybe I can break a bad habit through this!!! Good luck with your Mr. Will! We will have to compare braces notes from time to time...NOW GO PACK GIRL!!!!

my sis had braces (she got the good teeth) and i know they were very expensive then, can't imagine what they cost now. she had to wear the headgear at night, and was miserable.

:clap_1: congrats to Jesse and Will! The payoff is huge, but lots to watch out for in the meantime. MS (Steven) was horrible about wearing his rubberbands...and it does add time if they don't follow the rules! Molly on the other hand (paw) was a model patient! Guess we know where the moms will be once a month!

I am packing. I just need little breaks. Just finished going through bins and bins of Playmobile to put together a little playbox for Kate. Dang there are too many little pieces- my eyes are bleeding.

Will has already managed to break every rule- he sucks on popcorn and tortilla chips, chews sugarless gum and drinks diet soda. Occasionally he will ask for an apple, and I will cut it up for him 'cause at least he asked for a peice of fruit! We only have braces on top until an eye tooth can be bracketed down in late summer, then the bottoms go on and bands start. Ugh. Guess I need to make sure he brings all the ortho care stuff!

Same here. Fu~Bar was a dream. MS was a royal pain. Used to use wire cutters to do his own "adjustments"!

Fu~Bar wore them from 10 - 17. Only problem we had is the day our Ortho called us in to discuss, PHASE II! I'm sure we bankrolled a nice lake home and ski boat! I went in one time and the restroom was out of order. I went to the front desk to ask if I could earmark my fee to unstopping the toilet, instead of the Ortho's cruise! :funn: I'm sure they loved me there!

Oh Oh OH gttbm...everywhere I go, you have just posted a doozy!!! You are on fire!

OMG...your MS and the wire cutters!!! :funn:

What can I say MS wore me out and down trying to stay one step ahead! Let's just say I was the bug more than the windshield, in most cases!

Alex got braces when he was either a freshman or sophomore in high school. I forget which now that he's going into sophomore year in college (and the braces are long since paid for ;-) ). Anyway, for years our dentist told me that Alex needed braces and for years I said FORGET IT. Like Gotothebeachmom, I didn't think it was my business to bankroll any lake home or ski boat!!

Then one day the kid opened his mouth to say something to me and all I could see were these awful snaggle teeth. We were at the orthodontist within a week. I couldn't get Alex there fast enough!!

Alex has gorgeous teeth these days and I'm so happy for the miracle of braces. What a lovely smile on his face--makes his mama and daddy proud.
