Alex got braces when he was either a freshman or sophomore in high school. I forget which now that he's going into sophomore year in college (and the braces are long since paid for ;-) ). Anyway, for years our dentist told me that Alex needed braces and for years I said FORGET IT. Like Gotothebeachmom, I didn't think it was my business to bankroll any lake home or ski boat!!

Then one day the kid opened his mouth to say something to me and all I could see were these awful snaggle teeth. We were at the orthodontist within a week. I couldn't get Alex there fast enough!!

Alex has gorgeous teeth these days and I'm so happy for the miracle of braces. What a lovely smile on his face--makes his mama and daddy proud.

I alway scream SMILE at my 2! I want to see that investment!!!!!

My 9 year old daughter had her's installed about 3 months ago. She sports the color purple!

:lolabove: ...that was Molly's favorite color as well!

I had braces as a kid for years! It was fun shooting meatballs out of my mouth at people with the rubber bands :floor:

I remember when I got my braces the worst day was the day after they were placed. Sore jaw and a totally foreign feeling as the hardware rubbed on the mucosa. This passed with time and the foreign appliance was not even noticed after a few days. The only thing that stunk was getting them tightened from time to time-sore, sore, sore! I remember once having them tightened on July 3rd and trying to eat ribs and corn-on-the-cob the next day at our BBQ-O-U-C-H! But, now my teeth are straight and thank goodness I don't have messy choppers :clap_1:

I only had a retainer. And I feel like my teeth could have used braces.

Phead- God he'll kill me- no, I'm not going to say until when, but let's say he sucked his thumb for a looooong time -and some how his teeth went back to normal. Actually, his point in a little bit. But Gussifunn and Debbifunn never gave us railroads. But we really didn't need them.

Here we go with braces stories! I had to have an expander on my upper jaw before I got mine put on. It had to be turned every day to slowly expand my upper jaw. The day I got it taken off it felt like my whole head shrank in immediately! It hurt soooo bad.

Ater I got the braces off, I lost my retainer and never got another one. Big mistake, now I need braces again and am seriously considering getting them.

Jesse was SO sore last night, I had to give him a Benadryl to help him sleep. He took Advil every 4 hours to help with the pain. He has a VERY low tolerance to pain, and the whinining got measurably worse throughout the day. This morning he was still sore, but not as bad as last night. His orthrodonist reserved a big water park here for all of his patients today. I guess that $450.00 down payment I paid yesterday went to good use. Anyway, Jesse is at the park now and seem's to be ok. Of course, as soon as he see's me the whinning will commence again I am sure.

Same here. Fu~Bar was a dream. MS was a royal pain. Used to use wire cutters to do his own "adjustments"!

Fu~Bar wore them from 10 - 17. Only problem we had is the day our Ortho called us in to discuss, PHASE II! I'm sure we bankrolled a nice lake home and ski boat! I went in one time and the restroom was out of order. I went to the front desk to ask if I could earmark my fee to unstopping the toilet, instead of the Ortho's cruise! :funn: I'm sure they loved me there!

OH, I am so glad you told me this GTTBM, because it sounds just like something my child would do. I will sure have to be on the lookout!!!!

If he ever breaks an arm or leg (heaven forbid!) ,you'd better hide all the saws in your house too! And people wonder why I drink!
