Job for senior level financial analyst for consulting and risk mitigation?

We actually just got back from our first trip to the area this past weekend. Really enjoyed it.

To make a long story a little shorter, my wife and I (age 29/30) and our two children (ages 2 and nearly 4) have been looking to move to Florida for several years now. I don't need to get into the reasons why but I have turned down two job offers in the past five years (one in the Keys and one in FLL)...and thank god because the market has tumbled since then (houses we looked at in the Keys are selling for half of what they did then).

Anywho...we have been waiting for the right opportunity and the right place.

By strange twist of fate, my wife got a job offer (a serious one) while we were down there last week on vacation. And she wants to do it. I do too.

Problem is...I am not sure if there are any companies nearby that need the services of someone like me. I am a senior level financial analyst who specializes in consulting and risk mitigation. I have commercial banking experience too but I doubt I would go back to banking unless it was the only option.

So...I am asking for something within driving distance of SoWal/30A.

In other words, any recommendations for employers to check out? I doubt many companies have corporate headquarters in the area. I doubt even large resorts or hotels would need someone like me.

I could always try to start a consulting business (I have done that on the side at home) but that would likely be mighty hard with exactly zero local business contacts.

Your help is appreciated. Thanks much.

Kevin

Hi Kevin,

I wish i could help but you are right - corporate opportunities are limited here. And besides, I don't know what the heck you do anyhoo.

Don't supposed you've got an active security clearance? There is a lot of DoD work around here (Eglin AFB in Ft. Walton Beach, Tyndall AFB in Panama City) that can pay well by local standards, but clearance and knowing the right people to get in the door are the big barriers.

I'd say check the web sites for Boeing, Northrop Grumman and the like. Usual postings in the area tend to be specialty technology jobs, but they might sometimes have openings for people who play with numbers.
