Joe Miller Security Team - Active Duty GIs

New posts
The whole story is disturbing.

Follow the link to the ADN website, and follow the whole story. Why is this not getting more press? So much for the liberal media, are they afraid of private security firms now?

If I had been handcuffed by a candidate's private security team on public property, I'd be demanding they be charged with assault. You want to escort me out of the event? Fine, you rented the auditorium, you escort me out of the auditorium. Handcuff and detain me away from the auditorium you rented? That's another story.

Imagine if BP had done this to a local journalist at one of their meetings - wouldn't everyone be screaming bloody murder?

The Tea Partiers really just want basic freedom of the press in our Constitution to just go away-- not only with this clown having reporters handcuffed, but that dingbat Sharon Angel fleeing from ALL reporter's questions (except Fox), and that wack job Tea Partier of them all, Carl Palladino, who is running for governor of N.Y., threatening to literally "take out" another reporter that questioned him recently.... Pretty disturbing stuff.

(btw...wasn't Governor of New York once a respectable office--a la Nelson Rockefeller and Roosevelt?)

From what I've read, Hopfinger, who was attempting to make a scene around Miller and other press, initiated the first altercation by pushing someone out of his way? Anyway, local police are investigating it, I'm sure whoever broke the law will get their day in court.

 Yeah, mm kay.

Miller said Hopfinger blocked his access to a school exit, and he and an aide had to turn back the other way. Hopfinger "physically assaulted another individual and made threatening gestures and movements towards the candidate," Miller's campaign said.

Hopfinger said he was surrounded by hostile people and shoved someone to get some space. Hopfinger said he was being aggressive but not improperly so.

Apparently no charges will be filed.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances".
AC, this is the 1st Amendment. Read it, interprete it and then get back to this uninform, uneducated Redneck who wants to do away with the freedoms portrayed in it and tell me what it really says.:sarc:

I could be wrong, but in my final analysis (btw, and I am not John Roberts), I am not not really sure if this ammendment permits the press (i.e., individual reporters) to be handcuffed because of questions they ask of a political candidate, or worse yet gives any candidate the right to threaten another reporters' life by asking basic questions about their candidacy.

I thought abridge means to restrict or deprive? Any else care to chime in?

Does it give the press the right shove someone into a locker?
