How was your vacation?

We need info - have never been there
Oh, I just posted in response to an inquiry on the "Sowal Vacation Memories" thread. But it was very beautiful. I imagine it is different from T & C, I think. Isn't T & C fairly flat? The Abaco Islands have some steep hills but not mountainous by any means like St. Lucia or the Virgin Islands, etc. There's lots of spectacular vegetation, flowers, hibiscus, bougainvilleia, coconut palms, banana trees, just unbeliveable. The water is as clear as vodka up close, but a gorgeous, intense aquamarine from a distance. The sand is, as they claim, slightly pink. Different from pandhandle sand tho. The locals are very friendly and sweet and there's always lots of laughter and singing. Everyone speaks and waves. Hey, our caretakers (from the rental agency) who picked us up from the ferry drop-off, said there were no keys for the cottage. There just isn't any crime. We even asked a few other vacationers nearby & they said the same thing! I'll admit, I had to get that thru my head before I was totally comfortable with that!! The doors don't even have LOCKS on them!
Lots of great Bahamian food, conch, etc. I will try to post some pix real soon. If you are interested in ever going, I will pm the rental place. They set up our boat rental, golf cart, etc. It was pretty painless.

(But, the panhandle is prettier ! )

JR, did you see the pigs? : :idontno:
No, that is in Staniel Cay, Bahamas. Another Out Island in the Exumas (?).
A little too remote for us with a teen. He acted like he was being punished for the 1st part of the trip. Maybe me and the Mr. will try searching for the swimming pigs on our own one day when the boy is in college!! :rolling:
