Judge orders Kentucky clerk to jail

A federal judge ordered a defiant county clerk to jail for contempt Thursday after she insisted that it would violate her conscience to follow court orders to issue marriage licenses to gay couples.

I saw her on CNN. She said she believed god was a higher power then the supreme court.

Not unusual for someone to say that. But I was struck how cultish she was. And then there was the guy they interviewed beforehand who kept saying that the Kentucky state constitution had language excusing them from having to go by US law if it didn't want to.

Crazy

It's kind of unbelievable that this employee doesn't have a boss that can tell her to do her job or face suspension. It's going to be an interesting world when we all get to ignore the law because of our religion. "God told me I could drive 100mph."

I thought the fact she has been married and divorced 3 times was sorta comical. She also insisted she's following God's law but according to scripture "all authority comes from God" and "anyone rebelling against authority" is rebelling against God.

That seems even scarier. Even elected officials have to take an oath, probably on a Bible, to fulfill their duties under the law. From my understanding, she is receiving so much "support money", from outsiders, that the judge felt like any fine he imposed would have no effect, so he had to resort to having her put in jail.

The idea of requiring someone to take an oath, in today's world, is hillarious. Most people, when put in difficult circumstances, will lie. And placing your hand on a Bible...what does that do? Is that the truth machine? And what's with the raising of the hand...does the hand raising make it more serious. It's all bullcrap made up long ago when folks thought the world was flat.

If God were going to pay the fines levied against her or her bills while in jail, it might make a believer out of me but...I'm skeptical that will happen.

What ever happened to...."Just do your job"?

I think Mr. Carlin just wrapped up Everything, in one short monologue. We might as well shut down Sowal. There's nothing left to say.
