I am sorry that some of the permanent residents at your park have been moved. They should have been the exception, if they did choose to stay. But you must realize that there is no easy answer here, and no matter what, people are going to be inconvenienced.
The communities in Texas have received - by FAR - the majority of these evacuees. Who do you think is sacrificing to make room for them? Do you even realize what is involved in accepting hundreds of thousands of people (many of whom are welfare recipients) into communities who are already straining under costs of living burdens, unemployment rates, and housing bubbles? Do you hear any Texans complaining? Suck it up man! We must rise to the occasion.
While I am ranting, I will display my irritation with people who leave their campers at the campgrounds year-round as vacation homes. We are big time campers, and there is nothing more irking than having to settle for shabby campsites, because all of the best ones on the water have been taken up by selfish people who aren't ever even there to enjoy them.
You go girl....although Texas isn't the only state opening their arms to the evacuees, we certainly have seen the most come here initially. I have not read one negative comment in the paper here...only stories of schools, churches and individuals welcoming them and trying to help. No one knows the long term implications yet...there really hasn't been time for too much thinking ahead when you have people in such dire need. I am proud of my state.
AB, I hope you take the time to reread your initial statement and the concerns your fellow posters have had with it. Look at the BIG picture and be a BIG person about this situation. I, for one, hope for a civil reply.
