Cheering- are you working today? Or do you have the "Oaks Flu" too?!

I'm here. I am off early though, after all it is a holiday :funn:

I'm running to the medical supply place by work (Dupont Square) to pick up a few things for Daddy and then go over there. Tomorrow is flower day for me and then the kids and I are going over there to see if he wants to watch the race with us. Sounds like funn huh?

That would be my beautiful blond blue eyed daughters' job today. Can't wait to hear the stories, at least she doesn't do the infield anymore. She actully likes to handicap and understands things like trivectas...is that a drink? ;-)

That's my way of doing it, based on my first ever win when I was 14 years old. I bet on a horse called--no joke--Shyboob--and she turned out to be a darling! I liked the named because I empathized with the situation (didn't have much up front when I was 14  .)

Mermaid,
Too funny! I usually bet because I like the name or the color of the silks. I usually lose too. So perhaps I need a better system.

Bet on the jockey and you will win. ;-)

I bet your dad will love watching Derby with y'all. We were at Grayton for my last Derby with my dad- pulled up to the beach house with just enough time to dash in, fix a drink, and turn on the TV!

I pushed"flower day" up a bit this year- I have been planting them bit by bit. The mess out back (supposed to be a garden area) is going to have to be brought along slowly. It is an overwhelming mess trying to reclaim it from the dogs.

We are celebrating Bdarg and another friend's birthday tomorrow- a Derby tradition. Instead of birthday cake, I'm making strawberry tiramisu.

Okay- the celebrity sightings are trickling in- nothing too impressive yet--Ludacris, Muhammad Ali, Jennifer Love Hewitt:puke: , Peyton Manning, Nora Roberts, Usher, Petra Nemkova. Apollo Ohno, Michael Andretti, Alyssa Milano, Carson Kresley, Michael MacDonald, and Nick Lachey. Plus a bunch of pro football players that I don't know. There are a bunch of big parties tonight, so the morning news will report on the celebs in town. The Stuff magazine/Jack Daniels party is supposed to be the truly good one.

We went to the local seafood dive tonight- a few big hats showed up.
