Key West is Better...WTF!

Today I met a person for the first time in my life who actually was not impressed with SOWAL, he said that he had never visited a place which was as boring as ours! He said that it doesn't get any better than Key West, and so that is where he goes for vacations. I clearly understand that people are entitled to their own opinions, but I have never in my life wanted to knock someone's teeth out as much as I did this guy--it was to the point of argument. I felt my blood boiling as he berated SOWAL. What's not to love about SOWAL, what is so boring? I asked him. The only response I got was that all people can do in SOWAL besides go to the beach, is to pay thousands to go ride bikes along wasted space that we call nature trails for 7 days. I guess some people aren't "impressed" by natural beauty.

It's OK we don't need those folks BS! You either get it or you don't! The person you met obviously didn't and you do! Their loss!

bsmart, the two places are night and day. He doesn't like SoWal like I don't like Key West. Not everyone likes the Nothing-to-do atmosphere of SoWal and that is okay by me. ;-) Sometimes, I wish that fewer people liked coming to SoWal.

I absolutely can't stand Key West. Visited once; won't bother again. Maybe it was the bumper sticker that said "Key West is a party town with a tourist problem" that did it for me? That person who you were talking to, bsmart, probably would have the same reaction to my opinion as you did to his!

Well, the two places are certainly very different from each other, and Key West is different from the other Keys.

I had a great time in Key West, but that was about 20 years ago.
I was in Key Largo last winter, and I liked it quite a bit.

Interestingly, I have met two different couples who moved up here from the Keys. One moved up for the job opportunity, another came up after a divorce.
They miss the warmer winters, but said this area is how the Keys used to be.

Bsmart. Your friend obviously did not runn into the funns when he was in Sowal. What a snoozer. That is what you call a member of the zzzz team.

Last time I was in Key West was for Spring Break in collge and we ended up staying at a clothing optional, hedonistic, gay resort. Maybe that's what they are into.

Yes, let's keep SoWal pretty boring with nothing to do but enjoy nature, use the bike trail, eat well, hang out at the beach with the people we love, go to outdoor concerts and movies in the warmer months, read on the porches, find frogs and gekkos (mostly kids do this), fishing, etc. I'd be very happy if the partying on SoWal were kept to a minimum -- just Kimmifun and Jessifun and their friends.

Since the Hemingway look alike contest has been taken by those happenin' Key Westers, maybe we can find somebody similar to liven things up.
