Kites at the Beach

Allifunn's avatar is fantastic! Which made me think of flying kites at the beach!

My family loves it- Bdarg used to get them up in the air and tie them to the chairs, boats, etc. It was a tradition to buy a cool new kite every year, then the large number of kites started taking up too much room in the car! That, coupled with hauling Kate's stuff, kinda put a damper on our kite flying. We have only been flying singles for the past several years.

Since Kate is a "big girl" now and we don't need to haul the baby gear anymore, I think it is time to bring lots of kites to the beach again!

2 years ago, we were in DC for spring break, and were lucky enough to be on the Mall for the kite flying festival. It was unbelieveable!

love the stocking kite...matches mine!! and the goose kite...imagine seeing a goose that big from a distance and not knowing it is a kite

Those are WAY cool- wonder how hard they are to fly? Has anyone flown any like this?

1. we mostly enjoy watching people try to fly their kites - they will try to get these huge gigantic ones up with absolutely no wind - it's a hoot. one year this guy must have run 50 miles up and down the beach trying to get his kite up.
