I agree. We get into our "relaxing" routines so easily and happily when at the beach (and I go to bed early, too). I figure we have several decades to explore the area so I never feel I have to do too much in any one trip. The family, friends, porch, beach, and pool (and a few restaurants and good books and a few puzzles and games with the kids) are typically all I need. I'd love to get a few bikes someday to see if we could get into biking along 30A, but haven't gotten around to it yet! And perhaps a few more walks in parks, but just haven't been motivated to get out of our very nice routine yet!

I agree and we ususally LOVE the house we stay at so we actully enjoy just being there. This year we may rent the bikes. I'm searching for my beach books right now. I plan ahead  Can't wait.

my mom is one of those travelers who feels like she has to be on the run every single minute of her vacation, she can't stand just sitting on the beach. she feels like she is wasting time. i think she has a screw loose or sumpin'.

Yep she should see a doctor. "Wastin time" is a good thing. Funny how different people can be on this topic. My friend loves to travel to Europe and if I was there I'd want to see those historic sights as well. I mean if your in Italy you should see the Colliseum and the Vatican. (and bring your friend back cute shoes and purses) SoWal is boring to her, she runs on batteries.
That's cool, just leaves more sand for me.

Let's start another best book for the beach thread for spring/summer 06. I'm on it...

Right now I'm reading the new Sue Monk Kidd book THE MERMAID CHAIR. I was supposed to wait for vacation in 3 weeks but somehow I had to start reading it! She's the author that wrote THE SECRET LIFE OF BEES. It's pretty interesting so far. I like her character detail. This probably should be a new thread if we're going to talk about books, huh?? :idontno:

Kimbug, the new thread is now started in the lounge. I've read the Secret Life of Bees (loved it) and hope to read the Mermaid Chair. I buy most of my novels about a year or more after they come out - I buy them at garage sales (we live in a town in which everyone reads a lot so I get some great books) and at the library that sells donated books for $1. Then I use the saved money to buy truffles for the beach or put it into the kids' college accounts (always a tough call...).
