Let me offer up the novel observation that boorish ?fan? behavior is not just limited to us ignorant coonasses in the bayou, but is probably endemic at most SEC schools except perhaps Kentucky (football, who cares?) and Vanderbilt (may have better sense). Really??? Well, of course not! How could that be possibly be true at oases of civilization like Tuscaloosa or Auburn!
I worked at UT years ago, so I can vouch for sure that it wasn?t Big Orange ?fans? who would periodically send moving vans and ?For Sale? signs to Coach Bill Battle?s residence because he couldn?t beat the Bear (even though he won about 70% of his games). And I guess it wasn?t rabid War Eagle/Plainsmen/Tiger/whatever boosters who ?urged? the university president and AD to make clandestine visits to Louisville two years ago while concurrently telling Coach Tuberville ?no worries? - just sit tight. They were just going up there to snag some early tickets to the Derby, I guess. And then we have all those fine Gator sportsfolk contributing to the FireRonZook.com site for three years. C?mon, you know it was just a puerile prank; don?t take it personally Ron. And, it certainly can?t be the ?fans? bleeding Crimson who somehow can?t come to grips with the fact that Coach Bryant has been dead almost 25 years and that era is long gone. Hey it couldn?t have been ?Bama ?supporters? that were still buying talent (six figures, woo-who!) and then who attempted to blame opposing coaches and programs when they got caught. And no one could possibly believe it was those pesky Vol ?fans? again that turned on university faculty members with hate mail, character assassination, and, yes, death threats for exposing academic dishonesty in the athletic department.
If South Carolina stumbles a few more times, will the Gamecock ?fan? message boards be far behind? Obviously, any idiot could see that the Evil Genius is washed-up, based on his record in Washington. And what if Urban, who is flying high right now, has a misstep or two. Will our well-intentioned internet entrepreneurs register FightUrbanDecay.com and make a pitch to retrieve the Evil Genius, who is now anyway washed up as a first as pro coach and again at SC?
Actually, I happen to like Coach Miles ? he seems personable and sincere. But he has unfortunately gotten off to an inauspicious start professionally. My comments were intended to be a humorous response to Kurt?s post. I do not in anyway condone those ?fans? that are disparaging and reviling Coach Miles personally. I sincerely hope that he turns things around.
Mister JB, loosen anything that might bind sufficient oxygen flow, take a deep breath, and jump down from your self-constructed pulpit for a minute. Get a grip.
