My sweetheart started coming to SoWal with me about 4 years ago and became happily addicted to fishing, inspired by the hunt for dinner. He fishes right off the beach near our place and we've had pompano, redfish, and others for dinner (and sometimes chicken, pizza, whatever when the fish win and he comes home empty handed). What are the best times of year to fish in SoWal?

I guess it depends on what you are hungry for, but in general the warmer water brings more species closer to shore. As long as there is no June grass it's your best bet. Spring and Fall are excellent also.

I caught 6 Pompano on Dec 15 once. Since January and February are our only real Winter months they are probably slowest for fish.

Thanks, that's what we're finding, too. Fewer fish in the winter months. A few years ago we were here in February and Bill caught a big redfish.
