Beach Fanatic
The fam and I were at the beach today and I just wanted to complement our lifeguards! It was a red flag (what a bad time for that, eh?) and they were right up near the water being very proactive. You hate to see people going deep into the water, but it's gonna happen...especially on a holiday weekend. They would direct people back and point out where the worst riptides were. I thought they were doing a great job...

I inquired and at last count the SWFD lifeguards made 28 rescues people in trouble in the water today. Taht probably doessn't compare to the scores they prevented from getting in trouble. Just left the Whales Tale are on the west end and these poors guys and gals are still trying to keep people out of the water and the flags are at double red...

No lifeguards at Grayton- but some guy owes Greenroomsurfer his life...he was in trouble and GSS pulled him in.

Waaay too many swimmers today- it was a red flag-shoulda be double red day in the Gulf.

There's not a lot of beach courtesy going on today, either. The family next to us was enjoying their day while their kids were throwing sand and running across my towel. Grrrr. But, yes, Jdarg. There were waaaaay too many people out way too far in the water today.

When I was there it sounded like he was rarin' to jump in and pull somebody out already...

It happens alot. Prior to lifeguards in Sowal, Greenroom got cell phone calls from beach police to come pull people out of the water that police and fire rescue couldn't get to. Most of the local surfers have pulled many people out of the gulf.

:rolling:This is exactly what he was telling me today...and that his elevated status meant that he got to drive a bit faster around here...
