Eric Carle has a book, "The Very Lonely Firefly" that is really good, and it lights up at the end!
He's one of my favorites, along with Shel Silverstein.

When the cousins and I would go and spend the night with my grandmother, she would give us each a Mason jar and say, "Go catch lightning bugs." Think she was trying to get us out of her hair. Destindreamin, you need to try this the next time you have the grandkids.

2 thoughts - we were just commenting over the weekend that we were seeing the first lightning bugs of the season.


i was in a book club when i was young, mom signed me up as a newborn. i looooved my books, they were immaculate, and i read them thousands of times. mom meticulously saved them all in boxes. when my sis was born and got older - no interest whatsoever in reading. she either drew all over my books, or ripped the pages out and ate them.

thank you for the fond memories - i had forgot about the eaten books. she's lucky i worship the ground she walks on !
