Local elections will be upon us before you know it

People are lining up for State offices, but only hearing about a few for the local ones. So far:


BCC
District 2
Pridgen (R) Incumbent

District 4
Comander (R) Incumbent
Cuchens (R)
Kramer (D)

WCSD
District 3
Roberts (R) Incumbent

Open

District 5
Barnhill (R) Incumbent


Supervisor of Elections
Beasley (R) Incumbent


I have no idea who is even up for the fire district or mosquito control and all those other offices out there.

Note that this list is based on what I have been told by others, usually the incumbent, about who is running. No one has filed paperwork yet. With the exception of Kramer I have heard of no Democrats running this time.

This type of stuff is why many good people will not run for office. The man has not even formally declared and already the mudslinging starts.:nono1: Why can't we at least wait until they qualify to start getting nasty.

As I read that you're giving permission for mud slinging. After a candidate qualifies of course.

As I read that you're giving permission for mud slinging. After a candidate qualifies of course.

I am not "giving permission" as that is not my place. I am recognizing reality that mudslinging does occur in political races. I also recognize that I have on occasion participated.

What I was attempting to point out is that such activities discourage candidates from running. Regardless of the political party or race, good people are not running to keep their lives from being torn through and every statement they made in their lives used against them.

If we the people want better candidates, we need to learn a little restraint.

From what I have witnessed, it isn't "we the people" who do the mudslinging - it's the opponent's party, the special interests etc.
