OK, I may be wrong. I don't know anything about Elizabeth's daddy's family. But I used to work with her, 20 years ago, and she is a sharp cookie. Don't think ill of her just because of her last name.

I know I'd hate for anyone to associate ShallowsFuzz with his distant cousin who unfortunately has a very similar name...:roll:

Commissioner Brannon's father ran for Governor? Don't mean to question you, but I don't remember a Brannon from Walton County running for governor. Please enlighten us if this is true. Also, I think you may be jumping the gun assuming Elizabeth Brannon is related to Scott Brannon. I don't know Scott Brannon personally (have met him a few times), but I know there are lots of Brannons in Walton County. They may all be related, but the question should be whether someone is merely related, or actually close family.

To levy allegations that our government won't be fair and balanced should require some form of proof.

Considering that Commissioner Brannon's father ran for Governor, I don't know that we are limiting the number of related people. I don't know Ms Brannon, but anytime I see one family running, or attempting to run, local government, I know that we won't get a fair and balanced gov't. They may have to change the name to the "good ole boy and gal network."

I see ads in the Defuniak Herald that Scott Brannon's relative is running for Freeport City Council.

I have known Elizabeth since we were kids. She is Scott Brannon's cousin but they rarely speak. I do not believe that his views are hers or that he could influence her in any way. She is her own woman, very strong and that is truly refreshing to find. Smiling Joe, you know what they say about those who assume, sounds a bit personal to me. You should welcome her to local politics, it would elevate your company over a certain former planning employee lol.

My point about SOME people you know was that people we know in local government don't have to be related to be corrupt! You are correct -- I do not have confidence in the voters to show up, educated on the candidates. The last County races had miserable turn outs at the "debate" forums, and people typically vote for a name they recognize, or the incumbent, because they don't want to vote for the "wrong" candidate. Go to the County Gov't meetings and you will see a total lack of interest from the voters.
