Local Holiday Volunteer Opportunities and Donations

[Carol G]

Does anyone have information about local groups, organizations, businesses, or individuals who need volunteer assistance in the next few weeks? Or specific donation requests for the holiday season? Please post below. I know there are many folks who would like to do something to help those in need, but don't know where/how to find them. Would be nice to have all of that info in one handy place. Thanks!

Not sure if volunteers or funds are needed for this program but thought it was good for all to see.

“Home for the Holidays”

For the fifth consecutive year, the South Walton Fire District (SWFD) is offering a "Home for the Holidays" program. SWFD will be providing free round-trip transportation to local residents in skilled and adult living facilities so that they can spend Christmas with loved ones.

The "Home for the Holidays" program will provide transportation on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day only from the hours of 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. (on space available basis). Only trips originating in South Walton and ending in Walton County or within the Destin City Limits will be taken. There is still time to participate. All requests for Christmas Holiday transportation must be received by Monday December 22, 2014.

Please keep in mind that patients must be self-supporting while at the residence, and be left in the care of a responsible family member.

If you'd like additional information or if you would like to schedule transportation, please call our Communications Center at 850-267-0167.

Happy Holidays to you!
