I wonder what the environmental impact is for the production of stimulus advertising signs?

How much money do they normally spend on project signage? 3K a sign seems excessive.

I am actually ok with this in principle - think it's good to let people know that there is something tangible being done with this money and that it is happening in their community.

They should spam 'em with emails to explain this. Contract the labor to set up the email blast and voila! Done! A lot less expensive.

Some corporations do the same thing, spending money at open enrollment to show a $30K/yr. salaried employee how much they are really worth with the taxes the co. has to pay, unemployment, workers' comp, health insurance, sick time, paid vacation, etc, etc.......... I'll bet a lot of those employees would rather have the cash.

If they weren't spending the money on this you'd just be complaining that they weren't being open and transparent.

It's much simpler to put up a sign at the actual site and then everyone who drives by can see it. Very normal for whomever is doing the project to have signs up - be it for road construction, a building, landscaping, etc.

Not everyone uses email - and how do you compile a list of all the people who use a specific road and their email addresses?

In this case, I think it is very important for Americans to see what this act is doing for them and their community. That it is actually putting people to work and happening in their community.

What a waste, not to mention someone might have an accident looking at the sign or miss their exit. Now they have ribbons for Causes. What they should have done was had workers paint $$ signs into the lines on the new roads so we never forget this fiasco.
